While reading Soledad Brother, I noticed that there are many things that are stated in the book, that I can relate too. On page 251 he states, that the Neo (New) slavery is having most minorities work hard, long shifts, to be still earning the same amount of minimum wage, that we earned in 1964. And it’s now the year of 2016. The slavery today is putting minorities in a blind spot. As they raise minimum wage, the wage of living goes up. The couple of dollars that they put into our wage is expected to keep us occupied and keep us from complaining. But the minimum wage that we make can only support a 1-2 member family.
