Written by William Shakespeare, Macbeth is one of the most renown tragedies, which depicts recurring themes of greed, paranoia, ambition and jealousy. Lady Macbeth and Macbeth are impelled to become King and Queen of Scotland, placing all their faith in the prophecy of the three witches. The pair soon disturb their composition, social class and natural order by forcing their way through to achieving their ambition. Nearing the end of the play Lady Macbeth becomes guilt-ridden and Macbeth becomes ambitiously driven, juxtaposing and spookily contradicting their natural order.

Dramatic details apparent on her left side signify her distraught mental and physical health, as she becomes an insomniac. Sleep deprivation is evident through the green toned wrinkles under her eyes and red veined sclera. Her hallucinated state is also portrayed through the full black iris which "blocks" her vision and clarity of reality. My intension was to have the audience sense guilt, as Lady Macbeth develops into such physical and mental state resulted because of her deepening feelings of remorse and sorrow. Prominently on her left cheek, is an upside down pentagon, an infamous satanic symbol that possesses correlations with witchcraft and supernatural entities. This presents her rebellious and reckless acts, committed alongside her husband. Unveiling how the development of Lady Macbeth can be linked to satanic qualities, and Satan himself. An example of which is renown through how he killed his own son because he swore to do so, which presents the connection between the two, when similar Lady Macbeth states “Have plucked my nipple from his boneless gums and bashed the brains out, had I so sworn as you have done to this”(Act one scene seven), in which she speaks to Macbeth fiercely about how she would have murdered her own child to possess the role of queen.
