In many fairy tales, the original stories have been altered to be more kid friendly and appropriate for younger audiences. Through Disney movies, the audience only sees the perfect lives and “happily ever after” endings. However, the original tales were much distanced from the Hollywood produced movies. The original tales were much more gruesome and had much more raw elements to it. Many of the original fairy-tales included death, self mutilation, and revenge. The original Sleeping Beauty had such elements as those, including rape, which most people are not aware of. However, the most striking difference between the two adaptations is the manner in which Sleeping Beauty wakes up from her coma state. In the original story, the prince enters the castle in which Sleeping Beauty is in. He doesn't kiss her as all believe. Instead, he rapes her while she was unconscious. The baby then pulled a piece of flax from Sleeping Beauty’s finger, which was keeping her asleep.
