He wants people to avoid thinking that developing only one true self identity is healthy. A mask allows an individual to see his or her full potential by not having a true identity. Masks have multiple identities based on the certain situations and environments (circumstances) the person is having(undergoing). I agree with Gergens interpretation (assertion) and his psychological

At first, the act was predominantly done by white people who wore black faces to depict how African-Americans spoke and acted, but eventually, there was a recorded increase in African-Americans themselves who too wore the black faces. The acts included a variety of comic acts, African-American music, comic skits, and dancing (Minstrel Show). However, with the shows’ popularity, it was also quite clear that the acts were highly depicted as racist towards the African Americans. This notion comes about from the fact that the acts portrayed African Americans as lazy, ignorant, and as those who loved music and dancing regardless of any other facet of life. Surprisingly, the history of the minstrel acts has over the time infatuated both black artists in the modern day and a clique of white artists locally referred to as “wiggers” which translates to white artists who want to act as black artists (Blacking Up: Hip-Hop 's Remix of Race and Identity).
John Wayne Gacy took coulrophobia, the fear of clowns, to a whole new level, burning the image as Pogo the Clown in citizen’s minds for decades, even after his rage came to an end. Gacy was a pedophile, and prayed on young males very much like the animalistic monster he was, taking over thirty people’s lives over a time span of only 3 brief years. John was not only a serial killer, but an enraged, infamous clown who still, to this day, lingers in the nightmares of citizens all throughout Illinois and Iowa, where is ruthless wrath was unveiled right before everyone's, including his own, very eyes. John’s early life was quite difficult compared to that of a “normal” child. He was born on March 17th, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois (Anderson 1).
“Bit your lips, little brother... Don’t cry. Keep your anger, your hate, for another day, for later. They day will come but not now… Wait.
What do you think of when someone brings up the 80s, classic sci-fi movies, ridiculous fashion trends, the introduction of modern video games? How about the peak of heavy metal bands? One can’t talk about 80s metal bands without mentioning Van Halen. The band’s amazing instrumentals, predominantly it's blindingly swift yet controlled guitar playing, helped reinvent heavy rock, and they still stand as examples for many modern rock musicians and bands.
“I don’t know. I don’t think so.” “ I hope not,” I said watching him. “You don’t have to do that kind of things. ”(140).

Punk rock is either one of the best or worst movements in society depending on how you look at it. Rebellion itself can be very scary to a country or very liberating for its people. It takes sacrifices from groups of people who are looking to make things better. A perfect example is the Civil Right protests that took place in the early 60’s. The cultural influence that punk carried still has values that can be observed today.
