REVIEW OF LITERATURE In the 1966 film Fantastic Voyage, there was a group of five people who landed onto a submarine called Proteus and were shrunk into microscopic size. They were then injected into the body of a scientist and their mission was to save him from the blood clot in the brain. All that seemed quite thrilling stuff then — but now a part of that sci-fi fantasy has come true with the smart pills. We all are familiar with ordinary pills available in the market, but have you ever thought of ‘Smart’ pills? The scope of this report includes smart pills, their uses and their potential in the future. To start with, we will define what a smart pill is. For instance, one of the conventional methods to look over the Inflammatory Bowel Disorders (IBDs) which alter the gastro intestinal tract has been the use of endoscope which is interpolated through patient’s mouth, nose or rectum.
