When I was no older than 13 years old i was still living in Smithville, it was fall and it was getting colder and colder out every day. I went outside into our backyard leaving the smell of chicken pot pie and the sound of Enya music playing softly from our radio. As i stepped outside in my long sleeve shirt and pants on there was an instant gust that blew and with it freshly fallen leaves off of the surrounding trees. I walked down the stairs of our porch and continued onto the leaf covered grass, as i walked deeper into the woods of our backyard i took a moment to notice the delightful crunch of leaves under my shoes as i walked. With goosebumps on my arms and legs and chills down my spine, i continued walking. I saw the fallen walnuts from the trees around me, it was such a delightful sight...all the dry leaves and trees with no leaves on them and the bright blue sky. I took a deep breath and took it all in as i sat down on the fallen tree that was in the middle of the small forest. It was such a good day to be outside and yet nobody was outside that i could see, i wondered what people could be doing that would be so important. I stood up and walked to a rocky area further into the woods, i remember how we had tried to make a base out of these rocks for when I had my pretend military battles with my friends and my brother. I looked around at the rocks and just let the memories flood in like a dam had burst, all the fun times we had and how we could make this a better base. I thought about the time we even tried to make a tiny pool in there, all we had accomplished was a tiny hole with water in it...all we could do was dip our feet in, but it was
