Darwinism is the theory of natural selection and evolution. This theory was introduced by the Naturalist Charles Darwin. Darwinism states that all living things and organisms arise and evolve through natural selection of inherited genes that suit the beings ability to survive in its environment. This belief gained popularity around 1860. When referring to modern evolutionary theory, it can also be used as the darwinian theory. When we hear the phrase “survival of the fittest” we know that Darwin influenced this term with his ideas of evolution.
