While the social impacts of the Hurricane were devastating, the economic impacts were even worse. The total damages of the Hurricane were estimated to be about 300 billion U.S dollars. An innumerable amount of business were lost and destroyed, and this meant that many thousands of jobs were also lost, as well as millions of dollars in Tax incomes. Not only jobs were destroyed, but even the agricultural industry was severely affected with the flooding causing crops to be flattened.
