Recommended: Importance of television in society

Mad Man by Scott Hornbacher is one of the most popular TV shows that have been recently broadcast in the U.S. It depicts the life of one of the advertising agencies in 1960s. The show is connected to the life of the agency’s staff. At the same time, the name of the show was taken after the slang concerning men that were working in advertising – “mad”. Moreover, this piece of media is made of amounts of episodes that unite all events to the one line of the characters’ life, their professional and personal ups and downs. Thus, the show manages to cover the amounts of the various social problems and issues. TV-shows and other video media are the main sources of the information and experience for the most of people today. At the same time, such pieces might deliver and spread the culture, motivate any kind of behavior, or raise any problems. Thus, interpreting and evaluation of video is interesting for sociological studies (Barnes et al, p. 14). Far Away Places is one of many episodes that complete the general picture of the TV-show. However, having rather simple structure of three stories of one day of colleagues, it raises the amounts of the social problems that are actual for today, also.
