In modern America, “society” it seems, you are most likely to stay in the social and economic class in which you were born in. But in most situations it is most likely to happen where you do stay in the same economic and social class you are born into. Because people seem to not believe in you, and bring you down. But it is also possible for you to get out of the social class you were born into. Like most people think it is difficult but that is not always the case. All that has to happen is hard work and the belief of anything is possible, to accomplish anything. Mainly to this idea of whether social mobility, is less attainable in this day and age compared to previous generations, and that it is much less in the U.S. than in other western countries. As for social mobility, it's also argued that while it exists to a greater extent in other western countries. It is no less attainable in the United States today than it was in the past. Mobility is the characteristic of every social system. Social mobility is the movement of individuals, families and groups from one social position to another. Even though, “[But] judging from the public debate, at least some americans would prefer a more equal distribution of income to a less equal one, perhaps on moral grounds, perhaps as a part of an ideal of civic virtue” ( Cox and Alm 65). American Society is an ugly place to live in because everybody is as looking down at one another. America is suppose to be the land of the free, free speech, where everybody want to come to make their dreams come true. But, that is not the case anymore because you can not speak your mind or free your soul, because someone is there is burst your bubble. People are always judging other for what they believe in, or what they are doing. With the fact that our society is non-egalitarian, not equal, we are told to always look up to or who to treat the best. This is where the fact comes into play, society tells you who to treat good or not to even look at. Where the higher class is treated with all respect, and the ones who live in poverty do not even get looked at or get the chance to show off what they can do.
