In the United States, 71% of the adults use Facebook, one of the famous social networking sites, to post pictures and communicate with other people (ProCon). This means that at least one in every two adults in the United States has Facebook, and they use social networking as a way to socialize with many different people, no matter where they are. Social networking is a place where people can communicate, post pictures, look at other people’s messages or pictures, and more things can be done. For example, Facebook handles over 300 million photo uploads from all around the world each day (ProCon). Even though social networking sites are used by millions of people, it is not good for middle school students since heavy social networking users tend to get lower grades, it can promote cyberbullying, and enables the spread of unreliable and false information. …show more content…

On average, 12% of the teens spend over 3 hours each day doing social networking, and the average GPA for social networking users is 3.06, while the non-users have an average GPA of 3.82, according to ProCon.org. This proves that social networking doesn’t improve students’ intelligence, but makes it worse. Social networking can be bothering to people while doing homework, since they can make certain sounds or vibrate. By getting too addicted to social networking sites, students will get used to the habit of choosing playing over schoolwork, and more likely to result in an unsuccessful life later
