Sociogram Analysis: Miss Cummings’ Third Grade Class The sociogram created for my class includes 21 total numbers to represent 21 total students. Based on the sociogram, the classroom leader is a male student who is classified as Gifted, which means he attends the gifted program with many other classmates. Six students stated number 20 as one of their top three people they would want to work with. Out of the six that chose him, he chose three of them. Next, I would also classify three students who are gifted, numbers 4, 5, and 18, as leaders as well because a high number of students (5 for each) chose to work them. The sociogram also illustrates that this class has two cliques. One clique consisting of the top male leaders and the other consisting of three females, which the top female leader is a part of. However, it can also be seen that members of the cliques do have good connections with other classmates. For example, in the clique with numbers 4, 18, and 20, numbers 15 and 17 chose to work with each member of the clique, and members within the clique, number 18 and 20 chose to work with at least one of them. Then, in the all-girl clique, number 10 chose to work with all the members of that clique and it was reciprocated by two of the students within the clique, numbers 11 and 13. Based on the sociogram it is clear that students classified as gifted typically choose to work with each other. I believe this happens because they are most often required to work together; therefore, they have made friends with each other and understand how they work in a group together. The graphic also shows that typically male students choose to work with other male students and female students choose to work with other female
