The TV series I chose is Orphan Black because it covers many of the sociological concepts we have gone over. This is a show about a group of clones that each have a different personality and characteristics. Some of the concepts that happen in this show are: Sex gender and sexuality, Gender roles, religion, and social groups.
The first concept is sex and gender and sexuality. In this show there are women clones that all have different personalities and all look different (besides their face). There is one clone who is transgender, his name is Tony. Tony has hair and a face exactly like the other clones who are girls, but he defied the normal clone concept and became a boy. He is the main example of sex and gender in the show. (season two, episode eight). He breaks the gender roles in the show since he is the first transgender character in the show (even though he is played by the same woman as all the other characters in the show). There is also a gay character named Felix (season 1, episode 1)who is Sarah (the main character's) brother since they met in an orphanage at a young age. Alison is a soccer mom who has a family and seems totally normal. (season 3, episode 7). Cosima is a little nerdier, she loves playing board games and going science. (season 3, episode 8). Sarah is a rebel and does whatever she wants, she doesn’t really care about anything other than her family. They all live totally different lives and try to fit into their surroundings. They try to act normal, which usually doesn’t work out too well for them, but it helps them blend in and survive.
