William Edward Burghardt Du Bois is one of the most important figure in our history because he is one of the first leaders of African-American community. He is the first African American to earn a Ph.D. from Harvard University. He was the best-known spokesperson for African-American rights during the first half of the 20th century. He was one of the father of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He grows up in a European American town and was attending school with whites. Believing that a race is superior to all others is called racism (class notes). Every race should have the same rights. What is race? Here is the definition of the word race: ‘’Race is a social distinction based on perceived physical or biological characteristics’’(Corrigall-Brown, 2016, p.89).
