The Differences Between The Greasers And The Socs Are you a Greaser from the book The Outsiders, or a Socs? Do you know the difference? They think they are very different from each other but, they are actually very similar. Even though they don’t live in the same part of town, and have different lifestyles, they still are humans and go to the same school together. One difference between the Socs and the Greasers is that all Greasers live on the East side of town. The East side is the poor part of town. They are poor because most Greasers are not related to each other and have little family to rely on. Some that do have family are not raised properly and may be physically, mentally, and emotionally abused. The closes families are the Curtis brothers, Ponyboy Curtis, Sodapop Curtis, and Darry Curtis. Darry is the oldest. He dropped a full …show more content…

Both Socs and Greasers go to the same school, though they are more Socs than greasers because some greasers had dropped out. They live in the same neighborhood, just on separate sides of town. With all the fighting between Socs and Greasers, some Greasers and Socs have peace with each other and don’t fight such as the Socs, Cherry Valance with all the greasers. Cherry is a popular Socs and cheerleader who began hanging out with all the Greasers when she met Ponyboy and Johnny at the movie house. Even though Cherry hangs out with mostly Greasers she still has friendships with some Socs in her neighborhood. At the end of the day the Socs and Greasers are all humans and they all live in the same world and look up at the same stars every night.
