“Soldier’s Home”, by Ernest Hemingway is about a soldier named Krebs. Krebs is a simple guy who wants to have a simple life. He doesn’t want to work for it, he just wants everything to just fall in his lap. Being in the war, fighting along one of the strongest countries in America. He feels like the kings, when he was in another country. He had the girls, the attention, and is traumatized from what happened in the war. Now going back home, he feels doesn’t have the attention he had or wants. In the story, Krebs watches the girls, but doesn’t talk to them. He just likes watching them, but don’t care to be involved with a girl. In Germany, he didn’t have to talk to them because they didn’t speak English. Going back home, changed a lot for him. First, quickly he realized that the small town he grew up in was not home anymore. He feels like he doesn’t fit in it all changed when he went to the war. By coming home late, he missed the coming home celebration when all the other soldiers came home. From that Krebs immediately feels left out. Nobody really noticed he came home. He tries to make an interesting story, but they still don’t pay much attention to him. Being in the war, he lost his feelings and emotions. His mother asked him if he loves her, and she cried when he said no. Your greatest weakness is your feelings. During the war, it’s very scary, you see a lot of people get hurt and you lose a lot of people you might know. Your feelings might get in the way and might get you killed if you’re
