Mogadishu:
Mogadishu is the capital of Somalia and is the largest city in the country. Visitors can visit the Bakara market to buy food and merchandise for cheap. The Old City part contains beautiful architecture, but is now closed due to warlords.
Laas Gaal Cave Paintings:
This complex cave system contains ancient paintings dating 5,000 to 11,000 year ago.
Hargeisa:
Hargeisa is the capital of the self-proclaimed Republic of Somaliland. The city has an expansive market market place and the economy is growing very rapidly. In addition, the city has been very safe and peaceful since the civil war.
Golis Range Mountains:
This forest has an elevation of 4,000 feet and contains over 3,000 different species of trees and shrubs.

Culture
Language:
The two major languages spoken in Somalia are Somali and Arabic. Half of all Somali speakers (about 8.3 million, 16.6 million total) reside in Somalia. Somali is divided into three main groups: Northern, Benaadir, and Maay. Northern is the basic Somali language. Benaadir, which also goes by Coastal Somali, is a little bit altered from Northern and spoken with additional words and phrases. Maay is similar to Northern, but is spoken by the Digil and Mirifle clans in southern Somalia.
Religion:
The major religion in Somalia is Islam. Around 99.8% of people in Somalia practice this religion. The other 0.2% study (in order) Christianity, traditional faiths or folk religions, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, or do not practice a religion.
Other:
Somalis believe that they all share a common ancestor, a mythical father figure named Somaal.
Somalis in Somalia, who make up around 85% of the population, share a language, religion, and culture. Somalia has been described as one of the most uniform countries in all of Africa due to the similar culture of most of the population.
