Throughout Fever 1793 several characters experience significant challenges or adverse situations but the one character that I think experienced the most challenges and was faced with the most adversity was Mattie. Grandfather’s death is when Mattie was faced with the most adversity. She changed a lot after his death, she became mentally stronger. Also, I learned a lot about life from Mattie’s response to her grandfather’s death.
Growing Up Something Wicked This Way Comes is a definite story of how one boy wants to grow up and the other will give anything to stay young. This book is a very interesting look into an increasingly common perspective of a pair of two young teenage boys. Sure, the two are complete opposites, but they still do have a little in common.
Holden Caulfield is in love with Jane and he doesn’t know if she likes him back. The statements that Holden makes can be somewhat loving and caring about Jane. “Catcher in the Rye” by J.D. Salinger Holden is in love with Jane and every time he speaks about her to other such as Sladhater who Holden mostly talks about her to him. Holden and Jane haven’t talked yet so we don’t know if Jane likes him. In “Catcher in the Rye”, J.D. Salinger portrays Holden by being an outgoing, needing to grow-up, and corrupt innocence however when he is thinking about Jane he is sweet and likes to talk to others about her.
In “Something Wicked This Way Comes” by Ray Bradbury, Jim Nightshade does have some verbal and dramatic irony associated with him. In the quotes, “You look familiar… Like an uncle of mine,” (Bradbury 85 & 86) “Darn Baptist preacher, you,” (30) and, “Storm’s coming. Don’t wait Jim boy,” (10) show how Jim uses irony and how others use irony to foreshadow the danger targeted at him. The author shows how Jim uses irony to lie to Mr. Cooger and crack jokes about how Will is and how Jim will be defenseless from the carnival. Bradbury does this because it shows the sentimental bond between Jim and Will, how Jim is deceitful, and also how Jim is inferior to the power of the carnival itself.
In Ray Bradbury’s novel, Something Wicked This Way Comes, temptations entice you and are sometimes irresistible as it’s brought on by the evil that lurks at the carnival which includes the man of many identities who tries to convince the most vulnerable characters to join the evil side and as a motif it because it represents the interaction between the freaks of the carnival and everyone else being tempted or coerced to join the autumn people. Mr. Dark who depicts darkness forces temptation on characters like charles Halloway with things they can’t have. Mr. Halloway dreaded the idea of not “being able to run any more” (Bradbury 131) like his son, Will. He just wants his youth back. Mr. Dark brings Mr. Halloway’s self esteem down by reminding him how old he is.
In the novel, Something Wicked This Way Comes Mr. Dark is characterized as being manipulative, evil, and frantic. The novel reads, “Someone dear to you was down to the carousel… William Halloway. Where’s your mother tonight?” (Bradbury 217) This shows how Mr. Dark has a manipulative behavior towards Jim and Will by scaring them into making a noise so he can find him and steal their souls.
William Forrester is a famous author that Jamal turns to who helps him enrich his writing. Jamal, is a 16 year old boy who loves to play basketball with his friends at the nearby park. They often see William watching them outside of their window. One of Jamal friends dared him to retrieve an item from William’s apartment. But, not until William finds him sneaking into his apartment Trust is hard to earn when you try to steal from someone, such as William.

Pride and greed can affect a person’s actions and decisions in a negative way. They are selfish traits that often lead to selfish acts. Troy in “Fences” by August Wilson is a good example of this. Troy has a great amount of pride and greed. Troy’s pride and greed in “Fences” influence his decision, leading to failure in his relationships.
William is the only one who lives by his conscience. And this is a big problem for Longshanks because the rebel cannot be stopped by the usual methods. It becomes a problem for the Scottish nobles, too, because William will not compromise. He becomes a threat when he takes revenge on Lords Mornay and Lochlan for abandoning him on battlefield at Falkirk.

During the film Will demonstrates anger as well as irritability in a short tempered manner. In a particular scene, Will becomes overwhelmed with anger after encountering an old classmate who bullied him in preschool. Such anger and irritability caused Will’s mind to become blocked during the violent act in which Will also assaults an office. The incident ultimately leads Will unraveling the root of the
