The end of the USSR and eastern bloc regime was one to the most important moments of the 20th century. The USSR was in a state of panic and was experiencing many protests and rebellions. Because of these protests and rebellion, the Soviet Union found itself losing its powerful influence and hold over eastern europe. While on paper Communism seems Idealistic, the Communism that the USSR was implementing did not seem to work as efficiently. The main reason being that workers had no motivation to work, as in this communist system, a doctor would have the same wages as a busboy at a restaurant. The collapse seemed to also be escalated by the USSR’s government's lack of a solution to the problem, as they watched their economy spiral …show more content…

This in turn creates a more free market. Due to this free of market the concept of Private ownership was introduced into the USSR economy as well. The results of this action is a direct motivation for the workers to work hard for there was now a competitive market where if you work hard you could make a fortune. In other words, an individual could say that the Soviet Union was effectively becoming a mixed economy. Another key major decision that the USSR leader! Gorbachev, took was setting up the ‘Glasnost’, which was literally openness. Within this new idea of openness represented the fact that people could discuss and debate political issues and more importantly express their views on how they felt the Soviet Union was doing at their time . Following that Gorbachev addressed the issue with the nuclear arms race. Realizing that there was no way the USSR economy was going to do well enough to outspend the economy of the very power country of the United States of America in nuclear weapons, he decided to withdraw for the betterment of the people's everyday lives and standard of
