I remember feeling entranced and taken away as I watched the musical. In my opinion, this show was a complete success and there were many aspects of the show that served as an incredibly impressive detail. The plot was a little unclear once the show began, but I believe it was meant to be that way as an attention getting device. As an audience member, I was able to clearly point out the plot points, crises, and obstacles as well as the climax, and resolution.
The lighting crew, for the production of A Charlie Brown Christmas, set everything together so people to know what to look at on stage. Using different lighting tools to create stars, snow, and mood. Another use of lighting was making the spear that was hanging up in the sky change. When it was orange it was daytime, when it was blue it was night, and black means they were inside. At the end of the play they have 8 little scenes that was covered over 10 minutes. This is when everyone has left the house alone, it starts to decay. They had really good special effects with showing how the house was decaying, by the chandelier falling, or when a shelve that had plates on top of it fell. Through out this time, between the little snippets, they turn of the lights off and put fog into the theater. To me this showed the course of time, and was able to project the lights more.
This musical is a staple of musical performances everywhere, I have yet to met anyone who hasn’t at least heard of it even if they haven’t seen it yet. The first time I saw this play was on a theater trip to New York in sixth grade. We got to see the second cast of Wicked on Broadway and it was incredible. This was my second viewing of the musical and, even though I saw it over a month ago, I still can’t get the songs out of my head.
Anger and evil are main emotion that are portrayed in the book Wicked. These emotions are clear in Gregory Maguire's famous novel, Wicked, which was published in 1995 and takes place in the Land of Oz. This novel is one of Maguire’s bestselling books and in 2003 they decided to turn it into a musical and to this day it still gets performed to this day. Now Wicked is based on Oz therefor in the book there are many things that tie together the two books for example, the characters such as Dorothy, the tin man and others. Wicked is supposed to be a better version of The Wizard of Oz, the book was also written many years before Wicked even though when looking at a timeline it shows Wicked should be first, then Oz.
Because it was a musical, the sound effects had to be perfect in order for a good preformance, and that it was. The preformers used approbnbpiate microphones for the various scenes; vintage microphones for the 1940s and 1950s songs and scenes from that time period theater preformances for example. The sound was not as crisp during these scenses, bringing the viewer into the world and time period of the song. Like from the video, this was very subtle and I would not have noticed had the lady next to me not pointed it out. The next element were the light schemes.

When I first heard about Wicked, I was 14 years old and clueless about the world of musical theatre. It wasn't until the next year when I saw this show live that I had completely been changed for good. As I saw the show just mere months after deciding that I wanted to pursue performance after my O levels, Wicked truly did a number on me. I remember sitting there at the end of act 1 where Elphaba is up in the air belting about how no one is going to stand in her way of chasing her dreams just awestruck during the intermission. I even took my phone out and made a note about how there was truly a difference watching Defying Gravity on a screen and live.
