Poverty In America There are many issues going on inside of our country from climate change to domestic violence. However,today i will be addressing a topic that I find more important.This topic is affecting 45 million people, or 14.5 percent of all Americans. The topic I will be addressing is poverty. According to statista.com about 11.3 percent of the population was living below the poverty line in 2000. In 2016, the poverty rate was increased to 12.7 percent of the U.S. As the statistic shows poverty in the U.S is only growing and isn't being seen or talked about. Primarily because it increases crime. Before I describe the impacts of poverty in the U.S I want to share the origins of poverty. Poverty raises crime and makes life harder for children. Currently there is a organization out their battling world hunger oxfam america is one of the best known groups for fighting poverty and hunger. If you want to help stop poverty I have a couple of suggestions that you can try. First is giving food there many places that have food drives, the more food donated the less families in poverty will have to feel overwhelmed with buying food. Say every meal was three dollars three dollars for three times in one day is nine nine dollars a day nine times seven is 63. That's 63 dollars in a week for food and that's if they meal cost 3 dollars and they buyer is only feeding him/her self which is usually not the case.
