Specific purpose: (I want my audience)…to I want to persuade my audience to be less materialistic by showing them the causes and dangers of being too money-oriented as well as showing them how they can do their part in making society less materialistic. Central Idea: Materialism is a social construct that can be dangerous and hence we should all try to be less money-oriented by using social media responsibly, shopping less, participating in more non-materialistic activities and having a moral compass. ___________________________________________________________________ Introduction I. Does anybody know what the 5 Cs are? No, I 'm not talking about my grades for this semester but what is commonly known as the "Singaporean dream". a. Singaporeans are often known for being competitive, materialistic and pardon my colloquial language, kiasu. III. Many people sell their time, body and souls to earn more money quickly so that they can buy a nicer bag, a nicer car, a nicer house. IV. But does such a social construct, which prioritises money over everything else, have its consequences? V.
