These two cars face an ever escalating battle of horsepower and speed. These cars are breaking speeds of 270 mph and over 1,200 horsepower. Modern cars, even ones not as fast as the latter, are technologically and aerodynamically advance. However, most modern speed limits are based on the stopping distance and top speed of cars that have been out of production for decades. The question needs to be raised if speed limits are still helpful and even necessary. Speed limits are necessary, but they need some major rethinking and redesigning.
