1. There is a war going on, a war that has been going on for years. Multitudes of companies and countries are invested in this war. This war is the super car war, an ever advancing and changing series of battles over the years. At the top of this war are the generals; the Bugatti Veyron and the Hennessey Venom. These two cars face an ever escalating battle of horsepower and speed. These cars are breaking speeds of 270 mph and over 1,200 horsepower. Modern cars, even ones not as fast as the latter, are technologically and aerodynamically advance. However, most modern speed limits are based on the stopping distance and top speed of cars that have been out of production for decades. The question needs to be raised if speed limits are still helpful and even necessary. Speed limits are necessary, but they need some major rethinking and redesigning. Children, pedestrians, and even other cars are unpredictable and quick moving. Speed limits are more necessary in cities due to the fact that speed limits can help reduce speed. Reduced speed will result in lower stopping distances. This fact will help protect children, pedestrians, and other cars. However, in larger city streets speed limits can be higher, but must still be limited. There will be fewer amounts of people, yet there will be more cars. Speed limits can keep cars safer if everyone is going the same speed, but the only problem would be keeping people the same speed.
