Injuries; everyone has experienced the agony and the struggle of being injured. In fact, more than 500,000 doctor visits and 30,000 hospitalizations occur each year due to the participation of high school sports. Many high school athletics programs are petrified and stress about the unpredictability of injuries that high school sports might cause. They believe that the risks of receiving injuries prevail over the benefits from joining a high school sport. Although injuries are very dangerous and sometimes fatal, they do not always outweigh the benefits you earn from playing sports. Contribution in a high school sport help keep the mentality and self-esteem of students high, simultaneously they also maintain the students’ health and fitness to be stable, and participating in a sports team during your high school career can benefit you in the present as well as in the long run. By this I mean, sports can actually help you get better job opportunities in the future. Kevin Kniffin, a man who teaches leadership and management in sports at Cornell University says that his research and previous studies show that people who contribute in a sports team during their high school career are more likely to get better jobs with better pay. Although, there are people who still get good jobs without having to join a sports team studies show that student athletes appear to be more favored.
