The importance of sportsmanship is something one can instill and perfect throughout time. Sportsmanship builds character and teaches people different qualities they can later use in their life. Sportsmanship is under the assumption that it’s a quality that is only used on the field but sportsmanship is used every day and everywhere. Sportsmanship is important to me because it has taught me how to be respective to others on and off the field. Being put on a team with different personalities and beliefs makes people turn on each other and dislike each other. Those differences cannot be demonstrated on the field especially during a game because it messes up the judgement on certain people. Sportsmanship in high school is very important because it teaches the young adults to be respective to the teammates and their peers. Being respective to everyone around you is important because you will never know when you will come across that person again.

It teaches you how to work with others because we will be put into situations that we don’t get along with other people and we still have to work with them. Sportsmanship also allows us to get to know other people from different areas in the world because, it forces us to get to know others and try to speak to someone new. Sportsmanship is important to me because it has shaped me into the person I am today. All the sports that I’ve been involved in, soccer, volleyball, and tennis have all taught me different lessons in life but the one lesson they all have is to be respective no matter the situation I am in.
