Sports Subculture Versus Bodybuilding Subculture

Bodybuilding subculture and sports subculture are both based on a passion for exercise, training, competition, and a desire to improve physical abilities. While these subcultures share some similarities, they also have many differences in their values and practices. In this essay I will compare the sports subculture and the bodybuilding subculture and explain how they are connected.

The sports subculture is a huge subculture that has a ton of different sports, including basketball, football, soccer, Hockey, track, etc. People in this subculture have a love for competition. Being a part of sports subculture can give you many benefits, like for me it improved my mental and physical health when playing sports. I loved the team and family aspect you get with teammates and coaches when playing sports and being a part of a team. Being involved in sports helped me become more sociable and create many friendships. For example, Michigan sports fans have unique chants, and songs that they use to cheer on their teams. Michigan State sports fans also have their own different chants and songs they use to cheer on their teams. Something as simple as learning the hail to the victor's song and singing it with 100,000 other people at the big house can give you an instant sense of belonging. Or when Michigan football scores a touchdown and you cheer and scream, high fiving every stranger next to you. Or even being able to share and talk about your opinions on certain teams and players with your relatives at a family gathering.
