Prompt #2: Why are sports so engaging? When I was three years old, I was introduced to sports. Little did I know that sports would eventually take over my life. Growing up I’ve always had my eyes glued to the tv watching my favorite teams battle. I also spent 12 years of my life enjoying a sport as well. The concept of sports is so appealing because there is so much emotion and passion that goes into it. People will travel all over the world to see their teams play or play a sport themselves. Sports are a form of entertainment that creates a lot of suspense and excitement that causes people to lock in and lose complete track of time. Sports create and maintain suspense unlike any other activity. They create suspense because you don’t know what is going to happen, but you still hope something good happens for your team. I’ve played dek hockey for 13 years and still crave the suspense that is created each and every game. Many people, including me, see sports as a different reality and like to feel connected with others. The communities that sports build are some of the strongest that will ever be made. Take the city of Philadelphia for example, when they won the Superbowl in 2018, many of their fans stormed the streets in celebration. The people were so dedicated to sports that they went to celebrate in the middle of Philadelphia with other random eagles fans. This shows that people are passionate about sports and are captivated by them. Another example of this was when I went to the Phillies' playoff game against the Braves. The energy in the stadium made it feel so surreal, and the game felt like it only lasted a few minutes. It feels like you’re in a different reality when you watch sports, and in that reality, the time goes by a lot
