St. Philip Neri Writing Essay St. Philip Neri is an interesting person. St. Philip Neri was born on July 21, 1515 in Florence, Italy. The day we remember St. Philip Neri is on his feast day, which is May 26. He went up to be with God in heaven on May 26, 1595. He has 3 symbols so that when we might see these symbols you can think of St. Philip Neri. These symbols are the Rosary, Lily and an Angel holding a book. The lily means purity of the heart and soul. The rosary symbolizes the devotion to the Virgin Mother Mary. The last one is the angel holding the book that shows love, courage, faith, and holy qualities. On March 12, 1622 we were lucky enough to receive another saint canonized in the catholic community and it was St. Philip Neri. He was canonized because he was a great man and a good catholic to follow. Some of St. Philip Neri’s information was very interesting to read about. Here are some artifacts I found very shocking. St. Philip studied philosophy and theology. He studied them at Sapienza University and Sant’Agostino.Then he stopped because he thought it interfered with his prayer life. Philip Neri has more interesting and exciting facts. They include when he died at 80 in 1595 and was named the Apostle of Rome. He also started these famous walks that were filled with laughing and funny people. That’s one way he was known as a jokester. Another fact about Philip is that he made himself able to be there for anyone if they needed him. He made sure that he was here at night or day. He even said that the most devout or having deep feelings for their religion would come to him a lot during the night. When people complained to him he would always reply “They can chop wood on my back so long as they do not sin.” He is someone to pray to when you are having trouble with someone.
