St. Philip Neri is an interesting person.

St. Philip Neri was born on July 21, 1515 in Florence, Italy. He has a feast day. His feast day is May 26. He traveled to heaven on May 26, 1596. He was canonized as a saint on March 12, 1622. There are three symbols to represent St. Philip Neri. The symbols are a rosary, lily, and an angel holding a book. The rosary means to adore mary and Catholic faith. The lily means the purity of heart and soul. The angel holding a book means to have peace, trust, and ability of knowledge.

As a child, mostly he would pray, help his father with work, and planted fruits. As a young adult, St. Philip Neri liked to pray. He had a favorite place to pray which was in the fissure of a mountain that had been turned into a chapel. He would pray for hours and hours talking to God. At the age of 18, he went to work with his older cousin who was a talented businessman. After thanking his cousin, he went off to Rome in 1533 where he helped tutor. Philip Neri formed a religious brotherhood with other men to help pilgrims who came to Italy without food or shelter. The director of the brotherhood said to St. Philip Neri that he should become a priest so he can do more work. He became a priest on May 23, 1551. He was an Italian priest noted for founding a society of circular clergy called the Congregation of the Oratory. The Oratory was a room to hold the poor young men. Philip made himself available every hour for poor people. He was a priest who loved to give the sacrament of Confession. Especially young men. Humility to him was the most important virtue.
