Stan Eales’ thought-provoking diction adds a disquiet feel to the satirical cartoon by having the character make positive references towards pollution while being ironically surrounded by waste. Eales seems to be inferring that the speaker in the cartoon is a wealthy CEO of a business whose corporation is harming the environment. It seems strange that the character is comfortable with what his business is doing to the surrounding area, but Eales insinuate that he is, in fact, not at all comfortable with the harm he is doing. The character shows slight distress by saying: “Think of it not as pollution…”. He looks unbothered but this quote shows that he hides his discomfort by reminding himself that his employment allows him to be prosperous
