In our world today, schools are increasing becoming diverse. Classrooms are occupied now with students with disabilities, gifted and talented students, English language learners, and culturally diverse. Students continue to mainstream into the regular classes. It makes teaching interesting, exciting and frightening at the same time. With a broad range of differences, teachers are expected to meet the same goals and standards with fewer resources and to meet the many levels and diversities that are present in the classrooms. In the educational society, this is called standards-based reform, meaning that every student needs a level playing field which can cause challenges in the classroom (Voogt, Westbroek, Handelzalts, Walraven, McKenney, Pieters, & de Vries, n.d). This change does help educators learn to focus on critical knowledge that develops their skills. Also, there needs to be coherence and continuity within schools and districts. Children are always moving and having the same goals and standards will make the transition easier. …show more content…

Adding some of these ideas can help these include: partner sharing, group discussions, inquiry circles, and book clubs are just a few examples of how teachers can come together for the benefit of their students (Lent, 2016). In the education system, teachers tend to spend little time with their fellow teachers collaborating because schools tend to encourage competition rather collaboration and this makes it hard to solve instructional issues while still connecting with other teachers. It needs not to have to stay this way. Some ideas to help build this collaborate atmosphere are:
