“Theology measures nothing, while “exact science” deals only with numbers and measurements of material change.” Father Stanley Jaki was so much more than just a dedicated priest, because he was loyal to so many different ideas. Growing up in Gyor, Hungary as a Catholic, Jaki knew from the beginning that he wanted to be a priest. Jaki not only set an example for priests today, but worked under influences such as of some of the most credited sciences today, such as Sir Issac Newton. If he worked under such powerful people, what views and opinions could he possibly have had that were his own? Jaki came down with a severe case of tonsillectomy, costing him 10 years of his voice. Jaki was literally speechless, but he did not let this stop him from researching like he had planned to. He now described his situation as being “condemned to write”, and he used the next 7 years of his life earning a masters degree and a PhD in physics from Fordham University, with his supervisor, Hess, who happened to discover cosmic rays. In one of Jaki’s writings, he states, “The proper relationship between faith and science is that each discipline should strictly adhere to their own principles, science deals with the “how” aspect of creation while philosophy and theology deal with the “why”a aspect of creation.” This statement produces a bold opinion saying that science and religion are two different concepts with different principles, so to compare them just doesn’t make any sense. He later states that “science and theology should not be combined, but rather they should stay within parameters that each naturally adhere to.” Jaki had a very strong opinion on religion and science staying strictly
