In 2015, Fortune ranked Staples, Inc. as the 10th largest retailer in the Fortune 500 (Wahba). Unfortunately for Staples, Inc. it was ranked behind competitors Walmart, Costco, and Target which sell many of the same or similar products (Wahba). Additionally, as previously mentioned, Staples understands the importance of being able to “leverage buying power” (Staples: Business Advantage) for improved product cost which can use to attract customers by offering competitively
