“There is a convoy of government soldiers coming our way.” Lizard snapped his cellphone shut and rammed it in his pocket. The phone was a badge of authority, proof that he was in command. “Who will volunteer to fight?” Once again, hands shot up.
The movie Glory is an accurate portrayal of the African American experience in the union army. The movie shows how African Americans were being discriminated, they were used to plundering goods, and their willingness to fight for freedom. The 54th has made it clear that they were not giving up in a fight. When Massachusetts started the 54th regiment over 1,000 African Americans volunteered to fight for their country. When the African American men were marching into the camp, as seen in Glory, the white soldiers would yell at them.
For such of new country, it sure has some history. The United States has been involved in some rocky “regime changes” throughout its history. Despite the speech being relatively short in duration, Sully weaves the use of anaphoras into his monologue in order to drill the main point of its use into his spectators without it becoming redundant. He made it a point to express that the next steps involving his plan of attack included each one of the Na’vi, implying that it was pivotal that every audience member played a role in the plan’s execution because when it all came down to it, each member was essential to the reclaim of their territory. A sense of urgency is painted underneath his words as he declares that "[they should] ride out as fast as the wind can carry [them]". He goes on to direct the clan to "tell the other clans to come" and adds that they should tell said clans that "Toruk Makto", a fearless warrior that leads the Na'vi to victory during great times of sorrow in Na’vi mythology, "[called] for them". Preceding each request, Jake reiterates that "[they],” his audience, will all play a part that will only lead to their victory as a combined effort.

It seems unbelievable that an entire family would allow themselves to be slaughtered the way it happens at the end of A Good Man is Hard to Find. However, because the characters of the story have very set, predictable personalities, the reader can use textual examples to extend these characteristics to the ending of the story. Analyzing each character shows that they do, in fact, act completely in character when The Misfit kills them off at the end of the story. This analysis will focus on the behaviors of June Star, Bailey and Grandmother. June Star is an almost cartoonish representative of a rude, spiteful child, though she’s perceptive enough when she wants to be.
