In acient times, it was deployed when a sweaty caveman was being attacked by a predator. Today, however, it is used when comfortable viewers watche scary images on their televisions in their cushy chairs. In Stephen Kings’s essay “Why We Crave Horror,” Stephen King challenges the sanity of mankind becaude they like to watch scary movies.

His first novel, The Long Walk, was rejected and he took the rejection hard, but kept writing. He started writing his novel, The Dark Tower, but the expenses of writing were too much for him to pay. King submitted his novel Carrie to 30 publishers and got rejected each time.

King effectively uses these devices to convey his theme of persevering through adversity to become a greater writer and person. King through his passage explains to his audience that writing is not an everyday task rather it takes serious thought and effort. Zinsser through his passage explains how to declutter your writing by avoiding and deleting unnecessary details. King and Zinsser both focus on writing and targets the same audience, aspiring writers, but both authors approach the subject differently.

I would like to meet Jake Epping in Stephen King’s number one best-seller “11/22/63”, which is about a time traveler who goes back in time to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The reason why he wants to prevent the historical event is that he wants to fix the world for the better, but Jake did not know the consequences his actions had caused. When Jake goes back to the present, he realizes that the world is ruined and he must go back again to stop himself from changing history.
