The Real Housewives Franchise (RHW) is a reality television show that provides insight into the lives of socialite, suburban housewives. The Real Housewives franchise has been around for nearly two decades, and has become a worldwide phenomenon. The series is known for its drama, gossip, and catty behavior between its cast members. The women of the show are often portrayed as shallow, uneducated, and judgmental. Although some of these traits may be true in some cases, many of the women on the show have overcome their challenges to become successful individuals.
The 1970s were a pivotal decade for women’s rights in Canada. Women have historically been stereotyped as obedient housewives who were nothing without a man. The 1970s were a time when women were starting to voice that they were much more than that. They also started to demand more equal pay, more job opportunities, and more personal freedom.
For many years women have been seen as being “lesser” than men, and even in this great country, women didn 't have the right to vote until the passing of the 19th amendment in 1919. That amendment was passed almost 100 years ago, and surely we have changed for the better... Right? Many people would say that we have, however, it is clear that a woman working the same job as a man is making a significant amount less than the man would. This is a big problem in our country for a number of reasons.
“The emotional, sexual, and psychological stereotyping of females begins when the doctor says, ‘It 's a girl.’” says Shirley Chisholm, the first woman to run for the Democratic presidential nomination in the United States. A simple quote like this, shows how U.S. women were treated in the 1950’s and 1960’s, they were stereotyped, predestined to achieve certain expectations, and moreover, they were unequal to men. The expectations of U.S. women in the 1950’s and 1960’s are recognizable in the play A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry. It is a historical fiction about the Younger family, an African American family that lives in a small apartment in Chicago during the 1950’s. In the play, the family had conflict among each other
During the 1800s women faced many different types of discriminations and stereotypes. Women didn’t have an education which they couldn’t pursue a career. After they would get married they were still not able to vote or even own their own property. They were seen as second-class citizens because their rights were always inferior to the men that were actually dominant in the society. Their responsibilities were just to keep their home under control and their family.

The United States of America has transformed into this sexist and dangerous world in which the media and society portrays real women as objects and not as human beings. People see this on TV through commercials, TV shows, movies, and even games where the bodies of women are promoted like toys for the sexual pleasure of men. The 2011 documentary Miss Representation brings up this idea of how the ridiculous stereotypes of women are portrayed heavily through the outlets of media and how that has negatively affected American women. Women are the minority groups when they are compared to men.
Stereotypes are a major conflict in today's society also. Today the majority of women are paid less than men. With the exception of Calpurnia, and Miss Caroline the women in To Kill a Mockingbird do not get paid. All women who work today are paid, but not as much as men. Men rank themselves higher than women, and they think they're better: "You just hold your head high and be a gentlemen."
In December 2017, Time Magazine named “the Silence Breakers” as their person of the year. This selection encompasses everyone who had stepped forward in the past year to share their stories surrounding sexual harassment and assault, and was specifically inspired by the unfolding cascade of sexual assault allegations in Hollywood. Time Magazine chose a photo of five women to provide a face to the movement. In doing so, Time Magazine presents a vision of feminism that is at least ostensibly more inclusive, implicit in its rejection of “choice feminism”, and provides simultaneous subversion and confirmation of the notion of respectability to the service of its ultimate goal.
Greek Society Classical Greece started from about 2000 B.C. to 300 B.C and includes up to 2,000 islands and that is what makes up Greece. The sea is the main thing that shapes Greece society. This example of gender stereotyping can be seen as far back as when man first crossed the icy plains of the Atlantic and ended up in North America. The dominant gender would go out and hunt while the other tends to the children. As time progressed, it seemed that society has kept this stereotype and until now, it still exists. Women over the years fought for the same rights as men and in return only achieved few major accomplishments. Even though women fought for some of these landmark achievements, we still see inequality in every aspect of our lives, through the media, socialization, science, and the workplace.
Men have often stereotyped women as incapable of the same work or career choices, even though women are just as capable. In more recent history, we have had many women in leadership roles or jobs, for example, Alberta has a female Premier and Obama stated in his essay, This is What a Feminist Looks Like, that the States has had female Army Rangers. Women fought and continue to fight to have the same careers and pay scale as men. As Obama said in his essay on Feminism, women often face a ‘glass ceiling’ in the workforce.
Britain under the Regency era and the Victorian period Throughout this written assignment I´m going to discuss the Regency Era and Victorian period, two different periods in two different centuries. I´m going to discuss the topics “women issues” and “social classes” that were in these two periods in Great Britain. I believe group members have an ethical responsibility to report shirkers to leadership and I would report a group member if they were social loafing. It is unfair to the other members of the group to do the work of another individual.
