Steve Jobs is most known for the creation of the company Apple Computer, the first brand to make a useable and compact computer, as well as new revolutions in the music industry with the creation of iTunes and a portable music player, the iPod. However, his life goes much beyond that, and those who know his story are forever impacted by how inspiring it is. During a speech at the 2005 Stanford University graduation, Jobs made mention of three stories in his life that helped shape who he was and how he became successful. These stories were not very well known and proved what many already believed about him. Steve Jobs was a very successful man, not only with the company Apple but in his life in general, and he continues to hold that legacy even after his death. The first story Steve Jobs mentioned at the Stanford graduation was a promise that was made when he was just a baby. Jobs’s birth mother, Joanne Schieble, was in graduate school and when she learned she was pregnant she was forced to give the baby up. To him, school was boring and he had issues following rules, which resulted in him getting sent home often for misbehaving. However, one teacher, Imogene “Teddy” Hill, tempted and bargained with Jobs to gain respect and get him to accomplish his tasks. In fact, Jobs had stated later, “I’m 100% sure if it hadn’t been for Mrs. Hill and a few others, I would absolutely have ended up in jail.” Throughout middle school, most of Jobs’s time was spent building Heathkits, a mix of electronic parts and detailed instructions that let hobbyists build radios and other gadgets. These were introduced to him by a neighbor, Larry Lang, and shows that even at a young age, Steve Jobs had an interest in building
