Some family members are exasperating because they talk too much. You may not be inquisitive, but what they say may be indispensable later. This is exactly what happened in the short story, The Pod by Maureen Wartski, Jesse cannot endure his cousin Pete. All Pete did was talks about dolphins. The iron of the story is Jesse will later need the information that Pete gave tryed to give him. Later, Jesse's character changes toward his cousin, his mom and the dolphin he saved. At the beginning of the story, Jesse does things like trying to block his cousin's voice out and furthermore would do anything to get away from Pete (pg 19+20). Jesse was obviously vexatious by Pete's long monologue on dolphins. This was very ironic because Jesse would later need the information pete said about dolphins. Toward the end of the story after Jesse helped the dolphin back into the water, Jesse said he was really happy and was going to call Pete (pg 24). This meant a lot insomuch as Jesse could have called someone else like his mom or just not called anyone at all, but he chose to call Pete because he knew it would make him contented since Pete loved to talk about dolphins. …show more content…
