Compare/Contrast Essay: The Interlopers vs. The Story of an Hour All stories have a beginning, ending and plot. They all tell some kind of event. They all have a climax, a falling action and a resolution. Stories are the same in every way. But they are also different in every way. They may not start at the beginning. The story is of two families (the Gradwitz's and the Znayym's) that have been in conflict for a long time over a piece of land. The first scene we come to Ulrich von Gladwitz, as he patrols his land and searches for his neighbor, who he undoubtly knows has crossed the border separating their land. He wanders away from the rest of his men, and walks among the steep slopes and undergrowth at the bottom of a hill. In one shocking moment he steps around a tree and comes face to face with his enemy, Georg Znayym. The two stand and glare at each other for a long and silent moment. Suddenly, the storm that had been raging around them struck a tree and it came crashing down on top of them! When Ulrich could once again see, he found that he was pinned underneath of the tree along with his enemy, Georg. He struggled with all his strength but it was no use. The two began to talk, harshly at first, but then it soon turned into a semi-friendly conversation. They realized they might be stuck under the tree for a long while and it made them realize how foolish their battles and feud were. They decided to not fight any longer and to become friendly neighbors. They then began to shout for help. They spotted shapes up on the hill and shouted for joy "They see us! Now their coming down the hill!" But all too late, Ulrich realized they weren't men at all. "Who are they? Your men or mine?" Georg asked. Ulrich turned to him with an almost insane laugh
