Tell-Tale Heart is about a man who was crazy and he killed an old man because of his evil eye. Then he shows the police where he hid the old man’s body. I strongly believe that Tell-Tale Heart is not appropriate for middle schoolers because it tells you about killing people and hiding the evidence. Tell-Tale Heart shouldn’t be read in middle school because it teaches us how to murder people. On page 93 its talks about him replacing the floor boards so cleverly from the police but he then confesses that he killed the old man and put him under the floorboards.
By: Javan wright The Tell Tale Heart story and the monkey’s paw are both horror. The Tell Tale Heart story has three major characteristics; mystery, horror, and thriller. The monkey, paw has horror and the suspense was the supernatural events going on in the story. In these three paragraphs I will talk about the suspense, fear, and surprise in these two stories.
Is the story “Tell Tale Heart” Appropriate for our age group? Some may think it is not appropriate for thirteen and fourteen year olds. They might say it's too scary or too violent for young readers like us. The story is a great way for young readers to learn about horror. The “Tell Tale Heart” is a way for students to use their reading skills.
Do you know what your child or/ children read at school? Do you want your child or/ children reading about murder, dismember bodies, lying and acting phony? The Tell-Tale Heart is a story about a mad man with a lot of issues like, being mad, having a disease and murdering. The story encourages lying, murdering, and fakeness. Therefore, I feel tell-tale heart is not appropriate for middle school students.
Stories from the horror genre leave little information to the imagination. Although, why do people believe this about most stories. Well authors use the horror genre elements to surprise, excite, and give a reader many emotions while reading.

It states thoughts from the psychologist, and shows that the narrator is actually telling the psychologist the story "Tell-Tail Heart" himself.) If the narrator of the "Tell-Tail Heart" underwent an evaluation, what might health experts say about his state of mind?" During the story "Tell-Tail Heart" the narrator often stated unpleasing things such as "Why would you say I'm mad?
Edgar Allan Poe used the literary device of setting to give a dark, threatening tone in the story by using three main elements. Time of day, mood and atmosphere, and population. All to which are very effective towards the story. Time of day affects most of the story of Tell-Tale Heart, through the type of period of time the short story is based on. If it’s based on in the day people expect things that aren’t dark, but if it’s during the night you will be expecting something dark and ominous.
‘’Should we read the Tell-Tale Heart?’’ Should kids our age read the Tell-Tale Heart? Some people say we should, others say we shouldn’t. My opinion is that we should read this story. This is why I say we should.
There is always something that bothers us in life, whether it’s others or even our own conscious. In “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe, the narrator has a difficult time following through with his cruel acts because a part of him knows it’s truly wrong. Throughout the story, his crimes bring more tension between him and the old man. Suspense is created with his every move, leaving readers hanging on the edge of their seats. In “The Tell-Tale Heart”, Poe builds suspense by using symbolism, inner thinking, and revealing information to the reader that a character doesn’t know about.
What is considered horror? “The Tell-Tale Heart,” is a short story written by Edgar Allan Poe. The narrator of the story is annoyed with another man’s vulture eye. His intent is to murder the old man even though he claims he is not mad. After restless nights of watching the old man; one night, the narrator feels the triumph to kill the man.
There are times in life where people do commit a small mistake, or a huge crime, but what really matters is if one will listen to their conscience. In “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe, the main character lives with an old man who has an eye that “resembled that of a vulture--a pale blue eye, with a film over it.” The story revolves around the main character’s obsession over the eye, and how he got rid of it-- by murdering the old man. Towards the end of the story, the young man confesses to the police about his insane stunt after they searched his house. In “The Tell-Tale Heart,” Edgar Allan Poe focused on having the reader know more than the secondary character, using description, and using a first-person narrator, to build suspense.
In the Tale Tell Heart the climax is when the main charater kills the old man because before he was wondering if he should kill the old man or not so when he dicides he went into his house and put a blanket over his face so he could suffacate him (I think the reason why he suffacated him was so he wouldnt leave any finger prints so people would think he died natrally)
People feel guilt after they have eaten more than they should have. Others are obsessed with celebrities and hope to become as beautiful or as rich as them, one day. Now take this further. The “next level” some would say. Edgar Allan Poe does this in his stories, “The Black Cat” and “The Tell Tale Heart.”
I think that people of my age group should be able to read the novel “Tell-Tale Heart”. The novel is a great story, and many people of my age love to read it. So this is why I chose to go with it can be appropriate for people of my age group. Now you will have some reasons for my opinion to say why it is appropriate. For instance my reason is that it’s not like we don’t know about most of the things that go on in the novel “Tell-Tale Heart”.
As a wise man once said, “Hatred can last for a year while guilt can last for an eternity.” In A Tell Tale Heart By Edgar Allan Poe, the author describes a person's carefully organized plan to get rid of an old man’s eye, but soon realizes that his plan is ruined and guilt is brought into his life. In “I Can Stand Him No Longer” by Raphael Dumas, the poem explains a man’s secret distaste for another, that when publicly announced is turned to embarrassment and shame. Both the poem and the short story focus on the idea of guilt, and they both send the message that hate leads to one revealing their actions and secrets. The authors of the two stories develop this idea of guilt in a very similar way of syntax and conflict.
