Knee Deep was a performance that explored the boundaries of strength and fragility and tested to find that delicacy does not necessarily equate to fragility. Four actors proved these statements to be true throughout the play. Kali Retallack, Jesse Scott, Jesse Huygh and Natano all worked together in an ensemble. A moment in Knee Deep that proved delicacy does not equate to fragility was with Kali. Kali was a small lady who didn't look masculine or tough. She could do the most graceful things then do other things which needed strength and precision to achieve. Kali had the boys stand on her shoulders. This relates back to the quote because compared to Natano she was a lot slimmer and compared to Jesse Scott she was a lot shorter. She showed the audience that because she moved with grace demonstrated through out swinging, suspended and sustained movements it did not mean that she was fragile. An egg was involve in nearly the whole performance. In the first five minutes Kali had walked one eggs without breaking any. The audience watched in complete awe and shock when the eggs didn't break. The egg could have symbolised a person, this being because although at the right position could hold others up it could break at any moment if pushed the wrong way. It represents the characteristics of people. The egg shell could be the outside of a human showing only what the person wants you to see. Being able to be a support to its surrounding peers but if someone were to turn the egg and show it from another view just like people it would break. Kali's movement reinforced this statement by only standing on the egg where it could support her using sustained movement. She used sustained movement so that she could not only get help from the egg to cross over the carton but also so she wouldn't break the egg by being too rough with
