Additionally, the leader's personal qualities, such as charisma and confidence, can also play a role in their ability to attract followers. These essentials convinced them that more prosperous goods were to come from him that would benefit their lifestyle. In addition, the titular character is determined to solve the mystery of who killed the previous king, Laius by taking excessive measures. Oedipus’ determination and leadership to find the murderer of Laius proved how much he would sacrifice so his people were safe and the criminal was rightfully punished. The people of Thebes chose to follow Oedipus because he was a skilled leader who could take action and make difficult decisions.
