In the United States of America there are over three million people who stutter. In these three articles I found online: “Predicting Stuttering Onset by the Age of 3 Years: A Prospective, Community Cohort Study”, “Sociodynamic Relationships between Children Who Stutter and Their Non-Stuttering Classmates”, and a general article just titled “Multidimensional Behavioral Treatment for Child Stutterers” I found that stuttering in children is more common that I thought they were. I chose these articles because they all differ in content of stuttering, but still all covered it in interesting ways. A multidimensional behavioral treatment consisted of teaching the children modified regulated breathing methods and an easier speaking methods. Most importantly though, they needed to modify the parent’s attitudes towards the situation. The results showed that the children experienced ninety-seven percent less of a stutter after the treatment. At the end a six month period, they had the children come back with the same astonishing results. In multiple websites on stuttering, it says that there is generally a higher chance for males to have a stutter than females. One of them actually said that there are three to four times the amount of boys with a stutter than girls. Another piece of information I found was that the onset of stuttering typically happens in children around age six, and in the lecture slides it says eight to twelve. Although, every human being is different and with each generation of children, there is a new wave of information that comes with it. For example, in the eighties there could have been a higher chance that females will have a stutter, but in the fifties, it could have been equal. This kind of information will continue to change ever so slightly from decade to decade because the kids are all facing a different age and
