The Subaru commercial called "Welcome to the pack" tells the story of a woman and her pet dog who participate in a road trip with her boyfriend. The dog, named Butch does not like his owner's boyfriend in the beginning. They continue their trip in their Subaru with Butch repeatedly showing his dislike of the boyfriend. Then in the end the boyfriend puts the woman's coat over her shoulders in the attempt to keep her safe from the chill of the night, showing Butch that he is a kind man. The commercial ends with Butch laying his head on the boyfriend's leg as the couple sits close together with the Subaru in the background. The Subaru commercial telling a story, displaying the dog's loyalty, and showing reliability and adventure depict Subaru as the vehicle for creating relationships.

His loyalty represents the loyalty that Subaru has to its customers. The title of the advertisement, "Welcome to the Pack" gives the viewer a sense of security and belonging. In the commercial Butch finally allows the man into his and the womans pack after he finally lives up to Butches expectations. Likewise Subaru is seen as welcoming customers who buy one of their vehicles into their "pack" where they will remain loyal to their clients. Viewers want to be sure the company they buy their vehicle from will be loyal and a dog is the picture of loyalty. The use of Butch tagging along for the adventure shows Subaru will always stick by their customers like Butch stands by his owner. When the man makes any move that seems threatening to Butch he lets him know with a low growl. Butch loves his owner and stays by her side like a faithful companion.
