Subliminal Messages
Although not to be discussed here in length, subliminal messages within music are messages placed just below the human hearing threshold passed to the human mind without the mind being consciously aware of it. This is done to convey a secret message into the psyche of the listener. It can also be achieved by using certain music styles and songs to manipulate the listener to feel a certain way. Record and advertising companies pay great deals of money to use this method. Hence it is imperative that the Christian is vigilant to what he or she is listening to and to seek God for His help in eradicating any unwanted influence.

It can be argued, that not all music that a Christian listens to should be listened to nor is it beneficial. As we will read later on human beings are triune and music affects all three parts of our being. Hence, we must be vigilant in what we allow ourselves to hear. Furthermore it is not so much about the music that one consumes but rather if the music that person listens to begins to consume him or her for the better or worse.
It is alleged that many genres such as hip-hop, rock and reggae, although this list is not exhaustive, contains subliminal messages leading the listener to do negative things such as serve Satan, take part in hedonistic activities or even as drastic as leading to suicidal thoughts.
Subliminal messages can be of an even more sinister nature and cause real intentional harm to its listeners. For example in 1990, there was a legal case involving rock band Judas Priest, where two people took their lives in a suicide pact. You get there and have your first cup of tea, which is made just as you like it and tastes great! A little while later he offers you a second cup.
