Research Title: The Reflection of Sublime in Antihero Culture Since the ancient times, great works centering on heroes have been endlessly emerging in literature. However, due to the proceeding of time and the changes of people’s beauty-appreciation, works centering on antiheroes have been increasingly attracting people and winning a lot recognition. Unfortunately, seldom can we find researches on tragedy or on antihero culture. As far as I am concerned, the researches on antihero culture are of great significance to the exploration and understanding of human’s aesthetic value. Then, once aesthetic value is mentioned, it is undoubtedly that sublimity in aesthetic pleasure becomes a key point. Analyze what are the common sublimity that can be aroused by both antihero and hero culture. 1) Heroism in western countries are changeable and in development all the time. First, briefly summarize the features of heroism in each historic period. Historic periods can be divide into ancient Greek, Rationalism period, romanticism period and realism period, naturalism period as well as the late years of 19C to this day. 2) Summarize the heroism presented in antiheros, such as great ideals, remarkable power and distinct from others. Possible conclusions: One of the reasons why sublimity aroused in antihero culture lies in some heroism presented in the culture; It may be similar to hero worship. From this, the productivity as well as the power of revolution aroused from sublimity is presented. 2. Analyze major antihero works from the late years of 19C to this day.
