Introduction
The purpose of this program evaluation is to determine whether the treatment currently being provided to the clients in the Acme mental health agency for alcohol and substance abuse is producing the desired positive outcomes in their clients. The mission of the agency is to help people take their lives back by breaking the grips that addiction has over their lives. Therefore, the stakeholders within the agency wants to confirm the treatment they are providing their clientele is benefitting the clients in the long term. The agency would like to expand their services, but before implementing new services the stakeholders want to verify the current services provided are effective. Although the counselors do a great job making sure the client’s needs are provided. Therefore, the client does not see how depleted the supplies are that are needed to operate the agency on a weekly basis, so the agency puts the needs of their clients first making sure they are receiving the best treatment available. Billups and Shorter (2015) report, psychiatric residence is often unfamiliar with treatment options for substance use disorders, therefore, needed additional training and supervision when implementing the psychotherapeutic modality of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. These studies indicate CBT is an effective treatment for people with alcohol and substance use disorders which supports the selected modality of CBT produces positive outcomes. With this support the goal is to determine how the agency can improve and expand the services currently being implemented.
Methodology Application
The clients will be given pre and posttests upon beginning treatment and at the end of treatment. One of the test that will be administered if the Alcohol Use Identification Test (AUDIT), which has two versions the counselor can chose to administer. They can use the self-report questionnaire or the interview questionnaire, both versions are effective and have their advantages. The self-report questionnaire can be administered on a computer and can be filled out in a short period of time by the client. Although, with the interview version it allows the counselor to have the person clarify some of their answers, can be administered to illiterate clients, and allows for feedback from the professional. Another quick and useful assessment tool that can be given at intake and post treatment is the Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory (SASSI), which is a self-report questionnaire that the client can complete in a short period of time. The SASSI is available in an adult, adolescent, and Spanish versions for the counselor to
