Sugar is a kind of flavoring that is delicious and everyone loves it. People put a lot of sugar into the soft drinks. So many people like drinking soft drink, such as United states of America, Unites Kingdom, Australia and other countries. However, it leads to a lot of obese people. According to the statistics, there are 63% of Australian adults and 25% of Australia children are overweight or obese. What an incredible data it is! Overall, I think a "sugar tax" should be introduced by the Australian government. However, a sugar tax not only has a positive aspect but also has a negative aspect. In other word, no one wants to buy a sugar tax on the soft drink because it is expensive, but it could reduce the rate of increase in obesity.

First of all, many people believe that a sugar tax can reduce the majority of the healthy problem. Eating too much sugar can lead to many diseases, such as heart attack, diabetes, obesity even addictive. Make an example for me. When I was 14 years old, I drink soft drink every day in summer. If I stop drinking it, I will feel uncomfortable because my brain told me that I want to drink soft drink. So, experts say that a sugar tax can save 600 lives, prevent 4,400 heart attacks and 1,100 strokes, save $609 million in the healthcare system and prevent 800 causes of type 2 …show more content…

Then the government can use money to build fitness centers for overweight people. Why government should build an overweight-only fitness center for obese people. Because in the overweight-only fitness center, they have their special staff to train overweight people and it can help overweight people realize that do excise is so important. What’s more, government can raise money to some poverty place. For example, government can buy some books, stationeries and healthy foods for donation for poverty families or schools.
