The act of racism has been present in every society throughout history. Discrimination of other groups based on their different descent and ethnicity. These forms of hatred and negativity are based off old fashion values and traditions. People of different cultures believe there’s is superior, this belief in superiority may take the form of ethnocentrism or prejudice. In early Vancouver, the Chinese and First Nations experienced this disparagement first hand.
All the great empires , most notably the Byzantine and Mongols were all defeated after enjoying long periods of success. Mongols were successful because they were interacting with many countries because of their conquests. Conquering others allowed the trade routes in Asia to move north. All these great countries and civilizations were so successful , mostly in part that they all worked together and their ideas spread to one another.
During this period of time the Ming and the Han were able to improve their way of having a government. The Ming were able to solve this problem by not having the government add harsh and strict rules, this also improved by showing compassion towards their citizens, they also split their government into functional sections in order to help them prosper. And due to having other new governments they were able to use some of their ideas like making the ships and boats move a lot faster than usual. But for the Han government was able to prosper by establishing a new political system, they also followed the ideas of Confucianism by believing that their ruler was a father over them and they should not be lead by force. The government officials were told to be honest.
Beginning in the 18th century, many ancient civilizations began to decline including the Ottoman empire and the Qing dynasty. The Ottomans had reached their peak late in the 15th century. The turkic warriors demolished the Byzantine empire and established an Islamic society in much of the Balkans and the Mediterranean. To the east a new Chinese dynasty was emerging in the mid 17th century. The Qing emperors were not of Chinese descent, but were instead a nomadic group called the Manchu that conquered a declining Ming dynasty in 1644.
It was also a way for them to maintain the number of soldiers in the military.
They set out in an expedition to discover and learn about the new land. They had the army and other volunteers with them through the journey. There were many ranks for the army, like private, sergeant, corporal, and interpreter. (Doc A) Each of them earned a different amount of pay and certain privileges.
The Han and the roman empires shared similar interests and attitudes towards technology. Technology became a primary focuses for the civilizations. The Han and Roman made the same amount of attention towards technology. They both found it important to be the most advanced in technology. In Documents 3 and 4 both empires had a positive attitude towards technology and both thought it was a gift from the “gods”.
By the 700’s B.C., there were about 200 Zhou lords. The Zhou kings, however, always retained their power. The Zhou central government had a royal army, which fought with the lords’
The Chinese development of technological advances, allowed the era of the Tang, and the Song dynasty to bring about a social, political, and urban change. The Chinese found new techniques in Agriculture and farming rice. This allowed for more growth and spreading of population in the regions. As the population grew, people were interest in new jobs and careers in the markets. So, they sought out jobs such as shop sellers, blacksmiths, metallurgy, fishing, and government work.
The camps were “voluntary” as the government could not force someone to relocate into a camp, but the men who did not wish to leave the cities could be arrested for vagrancy (5). The men received food, shelter, and clothing in exchange for 44 hours of labor a week (6). They performed work considered to be “boondoggles” as they planted trees and cleared brush (3). In addition, they also developed infrastructure as the made roads and built public buildings (5). The men were paid 20 cents a day and came to be known as the Royal 20 Centers (3).
Eish Maheshwari During the 1200s, a group of nomadic invaders from the Mongolian steppe created one of the largest known land empires ever to exist throughout world history. These attackers were known as the Mongols and are generally considered to have been a highly barbaric and ruthless group of people. However, the actions of Mongolian forces during this time should be remembered for their positive contributions to Eurasian development, rather than the brutality they used, because they promoted a plethora of trade and communication as well as an exchange of goods and services across their territory. In addition, the Mongols culturally linked the European world with the Asian world, facilitating an interchange of products, people, technology, and information.
They used weapons such as knives and swords, but also firearms such as rifled muskets, pistols, cannons grenades and even machine guns. To do this, or have a higher chance of winning, they would attend camps that would prepare them for war. Soldiers in these camps usually trained for 4 years.
Americans fought the war with type types of systems: the Continental (national) Army and the state militias. At any given time the American forces seldomly numbered over 20,000. The war was fought by small field armies. The militias were poorly disciplined and had elected officers. They were only summoned for about three months and no longer than that.
All empires in history had a high in their history but they all eventually came to their demise. The Ottoman Empire and the Ming Dynasty both had ways they gained, consolidated and maintained their power while they were at their highest point. They had significant leaders that lead to these successful points. The Ottoman Empire covered parts of Asia, Europe and Africa controlled by their leader named Suleiman.
The art of using fiction as a medium to convey controversial philosophical ideas or critiques of powerful institutions, without having to take direct responsibility as an author, has been used by writers for centuries. Sir Thomas More, for instance, did just this with his 1517 work Utopia, as he created a satirical, ambiguous narrative to make a critique of 16th century English culture and its values and customs in several direct aspects. The narrative is focalized through a traveling storyteller, known as Hythloday, as he retells his observations and experiences regarding the communal lifestyle on the island of Utopia.
