A young man sits at the end of a bridge, looking as if he is about to jump. Many cars stop and try to keep him from leaning over, but the one person he wanted, was not there. Finally, he lets go of the bar and dies. The crowd return to their cars and think about this for a week, but move on to their normal lives, not thinking of the family or friends in pain, due to his choice, or what lead him to make this choice. The book Thirteen Reasons Why, written by Jay Asher, shows readers that your actions can affect people’s lives. The book is about a teenage girl named Hannah Baker, who committed suicide. In the website Dosomething.com, “Each suicide intimately affects at least 6 other people.” In the article Teen Suicide, it says,“Yet screening tools to identify teens at high risk of attempting suicide are not very effective, and those showing promise need more evaluation, say many suicide experts.” The things that supposedly could be done about suicide, hard-working. Teens are suffering more and more, when they think they're getting the help they need. I don't know what to do or how to feel, so the sea kelp, but it does not work. What are they supposed to do if the answers are not helping? The writer wants the readers to see that the help may not do anything. We need more people to do something about it, and we need more ways to change lives. We can not ignore what people are feeling and we can not pretend we have solutions. If you quit me does not work, then there is no way for them to truly know or show others how they feel. There will be no solutions or medicine to subscribe to them. The writer wants to show the audience that people need to trust how they feel. Don't rely on anyone else to tell you it is okay to feel a certain way, know yourself and what you need. If people only think of themselves and only worry about what they have to get done, then they could finally get ahead in life and have bright futures, not if they worry what others think.
